Our mission: Developing active individuals and thriving communities.
Careers Wales West is a private company, employing around 300 people, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. We offer careers information, advice and guidance to people of all ages across the whole southwestern quarter of Wales. However we do much more than this.
We have 12 Careers Centres, distributed across the five unitary authorities: Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea. The Careers Centres are open 9-5, five days a week, throughout the year. In all our modern and well-equipped centres, people of all ages can get free, independent and impartial information, advice and guidance about work, education, and training opportunities.
All our Careers Centres have computers where you can have FREE Internet access to research your career options or prepare your CV and save it on-line in your e-portfolio. In every Careers Centres you can arrange to have a private and confidential interview with a qualified Careers Adviser, in Welsh or English.
Careers Wales West works with schools, colleges and employers. We provide Professional development opportunities for teachers and lecturers. Free information and guidance is available via the Learning and Careers Advice help line on 0800 100 900.
We have Adult Guidance Advisers who can advise clients at any point in their working lives, including offering redundancy counselling.
Our Careers Advisers help and support schools in achieving the Careers Education and Guidance Quality Award - a nationally accredited award, assuring students and their parents or guardians of high quality careers provision.
Careers Wales West supports every secondary school in West Wales in providing pupils with careers information in their own careers libraries. We also produce many useful publications ourselves.
We organise Enterprise and Motivation events for students, as well as work experience opportunities for thousands of young people every year.
We work with schools, colleges and employers to provide mentoring for young people to help them fulfil their potential. We promote Science, Engineering and Technology across West Wales in both primary and secondary schools.
Our Youth Gateway Personal Advisers work with young people who are confused, disadvantaged or uncertain of their next step towards achieving their educational and career goals.
We have an experienced team of Special Needs Advisers to help clients who may need additional help to identify and achieve their educational or career option.
Careers Wales West works with people of all ages, abilities and interests to raise awareness, inform, advise, challenge and guide them to successful outcomes.
Careers Wales West is committed to equal opportunities. Our services are designed to meet individual needs regardless of race, gender, marital status, age, disability, beliefs or sexual orientation.
